Three weeks ago, I got PRK done on my eyes. I’m happy to say that my eyes are healing great, and my vision seems to be settling in now. While my vision still fluctuates throughout the day, things have definitely been sharpening up lately. I still have to use artificial tears to treat my dry eyes as they continue to heal, but I’ve been able to reduce the frequency of using them, which is a good sign and also good for the wallet. (If you think the price of gas is bad, you should check the price of preservative free artifical tears.)
Even though my eyes aren’t at 100% yet, I can already tell that getting laser eye surgery is one of the best investments I’ve made for my health so far. The feeling of freedom that comes with not having to deal with contacts anymore or worrying about losing a pair of glasses is incredible. Also, given my current age, I’ll even save some money in the long run from getting PRK rather than continuing to wear contacts.

I’m glad it’s going well for you. Since I had the last-minute PRK procedure in my left eye, I can say that any dryness is about equal in both eyes. (I stare at a computer all day for work, 9+ hrs PLUS time at home in the internet.) My eyes were dry even before surgery, but I don’t seem to need drops very often. I’m slowly using up my extra single vials but it’s by no means annoyingly dry for me.
Thanks, mapgirl. It’s reassuring to hear from someone who has gone through this stage of the healing process already. My eyes were dry before I had the surgery too, and, like you and most of our other fellow bloggers, I’m on the computer for the vast majority of each day.
I had another checkup yesterday, and my doctor put punctal plugs to try to help my dry eyes. So far they seem to be working well. Instead of using artificial tears every 2 hours, I’ve been able to last around 4 hours now.
Great to hear that your surgery was successful and you are doing better as time goes by. I had LASIK six months ago and it really was the best thing I have ever spent money on.
I am happy to have great vision and not have any problems.
Three cheers to seeing well!!!
