July 2008 In Review

by Broke Grad on August 2, 2008

Wow. That’s all I have to say about the past month at Broke Grad Student. July was a record shattering month for this blog, and here’s an overview of how it all happened.

Most Popular Articles

After an article highlighting my post about why I hate cash was promoted to the front page of MSN Money for a day, things went crazy around here. The effects will be pretty evident in my stats for the month. The picture below gives you an idea of what it would look like if everybody who visited my site that day gathered in one place.

19,387 Unique Visitors

Over 4 times as many visitors as last month! I was just hoping to do better than last month, but this is insane. This one will be hard to top for awhile unless I’m able to work out a deal to get regularly featured on MSN Money. Anyway, now I have a way higher goal to shoot for, and I’m always up for a challenge.

220 Subscribers

Broke Grad Student gained almost 100 new subscribers over the past month. While the traffic from MSN Money definitely helped, I think the launch of the College Money Network was also a big contributing factor in last month’s growth. Not to mention the fact that the College Money Network will be announcing a big giveaway in the next few days, so be sure to subscribe to my feed via RSS or email to get free updates.

Top 8 Referrers

As always, thanks to these other great personal finance sites for sending traffic this way. Here are the top 8 referrers for the month of July.
