Halloween is almost here, which means most college students are probably taking midterms right about now. While I don’t have to stay up cramming for midterms anymore, there’s one thing I still share in common with college students — the sudden realization that you only have a week left to come up with a Halloween costume.
If I remember correctly, there are only a few requirements for a college student’s Halloween costume, and they’re fairly simple. The costume has to be:
- cheap
- easy
- funny and/or creative and/or slightly to extremely offensive
With this criteria in mind, here are a few cheap and easy Halloween costumes for college students.
Tetris Pieces
Dressing up as Tetris pieces has to be one of the ultimate geeky group costumes of all time. All it takes is a few cardboard boxes and a lot of tape. Convince a few of your friends to be the other pieces, and you’ll be entertained for the entire night. As an added bonus, your costume will still be recognizable even if you stray away from the pack.

A Play On Words
Tape some cereal boxes to your shirt, carry around a knife, and be a “cereal killer” — ba-dum-ching! The biggest problem with costumes like this is that you’ll spend the majority of the night trying to explain your costume to everybody else. By the time people start getting it, they’ll be too drunk to care.
Cross-dressing
Everyone cross-dresses at least once, right? Well, if you’ve made it to college and you still haven’t done it yet, here’s your chance. If you’re lucky, one of your friends will let you borrow some of his/her clothes, underwear, makeup, accessories, etc. If you’re luckier, he/she will also show you how all of that stuff is supposed to go on.
Sexy Versions of Childhood Characters
Take one of your favorite childhood characters, and dress up as the sexy, naughty version of them. Plenty of college girls do this every year, which means one of your friends probably has a Sexy Strawberry Shortcake costume that she’d be willing to exchange for your Naughty Raggedy Ann costume. Why does something so wrong look so right?

Things You Can’t Show On TV
Where do I start? Assless chaps, a penis, a vagina, a priest with a boner, a really naughty nun, a boob, two boobs, body paint and nothing else, and much, much more. College is definitely a great time to experiment with edgy costumes, because it’s expected of you. The more offensive it is, the better it is.
Paper Bag Head
If all else fails, there’s always the ultimate fall back plan. Simply throw a bag over your head (paper, not plastic), and you’re done. I’d recommend cutting a couple of eye holes and a mouth hole. You’ll have people coming up and talking to you all night as they try to figure out who’s under the bag.

I loved halloween when I was in college, mainly for the the crazy females dressing up and running around campus. That is self evident. Another reason I love halloween is b/c people come up with crazy blog posts. Great stuff, Ragady Ann never looked better.
My first choice for my halloween costume this year http://www.begreenman.com

Nice article, thanks for presenting some good photographic evidence.
If you’re looking for a nice accessory that goes well with any Halloween costume you should check out Motorola’s new phone Krave. If you want to read more about it check out their site, Motorola.com/Krave.
I was going to try to be green man too! Although I could only find the suits through weirdo Japanese fetish shops.
