Broke Grad Student Is Back (Kind Of)

by Broke Grad on January 2, 2009

Happy 2009! My apologies for the delay. Thanks to my blog getting hacked the day before I went out of town for a wedding, Broke Grad Student has been down for almost a week.

Now that the craziness of the holidays is subsiding, I finally found some time to get this blog back up and running. This is the first time one of my blogs has gotten hacked, and it hasn’t been fun. It feels like someone broke into my house, tossed some stuff around, and then left.

On the bright side, I found out that I won an Acer Ultra Mini PC from a Wise Bread Contest on the same day my blog got hacked. Proof that karma exists?

Anyway, I hope everyone has had a great holiday break, and I look forward to getting back to writing now that my blog is back up.

I’m so sorry to hear about the blog being hacked! I’m it’s up and running again.

Yikes! Thats awful — I hope it wasn’t too difficult to get things back up and running again.

On a lighter note, happy new year!

Ouch that is one of my greatest fears, having my hard work ruined by someone for no reason. I’m glad you have been able to rebound from this and all the best to you in 2009!

Green Panda: Thanks. I’m glad to be back to blogging.

Student Scrooge: Getting it running again wasn’t too bad, but my search traffic has definitely taken a hit. Looks like Google doesn’t like it if your site goes down for a week.

Studenomics: Hope you have a great 2009 as well!

Do you know how it happened?

Your predicament can serve as a reminder to readers to check on elements of their site that could be compromised, or to find an article that provides protection information. Winning that computer on the same day that it occurred sure is a neutralizing phenomenon. A good thing is that the occurrence motivates you to return to your site with a small increase in vigor.
